Sao Tome and Principe: Joselaica das Neves and Micael Lima were the big winners of the “Vozes d’Obô” Contest

Joselaica das Neves, 18 years old, university student, and Micael Lima, 32 years old, director of a choir, were the big winners of the “Vozes d’Obô” Contest, whose final took place last May 14, in São Tomé and Prince.

Each of the winners cashed in 30,000 dobras (about 1,200 euros) that they intend to invest in their musical careers. In addition to the monetary prizes, the two will be managed by “On Time Entertainment” and will be able to record an EP.

The project “Vozes d’Obô” was an initiative of Tela Digital Media Group, Lda., in partnership with On Time Entretenimento and Krypton, which aimed to discover artistic talents in the musical area in São Tomé and Príncipe, having benefited from the co-financing of the Fund Diversity, within the framework of the PROCULTURA project, in the amount of 20,000 Euros, out of a total of 24,320.57 Euros invested in the project.

PROCULTURA, which is funded by the European Union, managed and co-financed by Camões, IP and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, aims to contribute to increasing employment and the income-generating potential of the cultural sector in the PALOP-TL, through the reinforcement of skills professionals in the sector, cultural products and services and dissemination and marketing opportunities.
