The National Project for Computerization of Civil Registry Services, carried out under the PASP, includes several components, namely: digitalization and cataloging of approximately 360,000 birth, marriage and death seats, development of an Integrated File Management System ( SIGA), which also allows for the electronic registration of birth, and an electronic certificate sales portal. This latter feature will benefit substantially the citizens of São Tomé who live abroad, and who may use it to obtain a birth certificate, without having to travel to the Country.
The service is expected to be made available in all posts and delegations, maternities, embassies and consular services.
The Technical Assistance, administered by the Agency for Administrative Modernization (AMA, I.P.) of Portugal, includes the officers and senior staff of the Civil Registry, and takes place from 23 to 30 May, in the training room of the Portuguese Cultural Center in São Tomé.
An opening ceremony, on May 23rd at the Centro Cultural Brazil – São Tomé and Príncipe, was presided over by the Minister of Justice, Ilza Amado Vaz, and the Portuguese Ambassador, Luís Gaspar.
The Project to Support the Improvement of Quality and Proximity of Public Services in PALOP and Timor-Leste is a project financed by the European Union (EUR 4,800,000.00) under the 10th EDF, and co-financed and implemented by Camões – Cooperation and Language Institute, IP (EUR 1,000,000.00). Technical supervision of the project is provided by the Agency for Administrative Modernization, I.P. (AMA, I.P.).
