Eleven agreements were signed under the DIVERSIDADE instrument, from PROCULTURA program. Three are from Inhambane province, one from Ilha de Moçambique and eight from Maputo province.
The ceremony took place on May 10, 2021 at Camões – Centro Cultural Português, in Maputo. The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Eldevina Materula, the Ambassador from Portugal, António Costa Moura, and the Head of European Mission in Mozambique, Ambassador Antonio Sánchez-Benedito, participated on the event.
Three of the contractors are from Inhambane province, one from Ilha de Moçambique, and eight from Maputo province. Covering several areas such as tourism, cultural journalism, dance, theatre, music, visual arts, craftsmanship, and associative and federative activities.
PROCULTURA program aims to promote employment and income generating activities in the cultural sector, at PALOP and East Timor. It is financed by the European Union, co-financed and managed by Camões, I.P. and co-financed by Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian.
DIVERSIDADE is a financial instrument for cultural diversity, citizenship and identity, in Mozambique.
In March 1992 at Sao Tome e Principe City, the Head of State and Governments of PALOP expressed their political willing to establish a multiform cooperation between PALOP countries and the European Union. East Timor joined the group in 2007, changed the name of the group to PALOP-TL.
